Would you rather have an endorsement from someone you just met, for something that you really don’t even do, or would you rather have a conversation with someone and be semi qualified for your skills from that person, and then in return get endorsed from that person? I vote for the latter. It is way more powerful to get a social endorsement from someone who you have talked to and built a relationship. The meaning behind that endorsement has now become a recommendation.

With social media now being so prevalent in the online business world, it is even more important to establish those relationships and get back to that hand shake style and face to face business model. I am not saying go out and meet everyone that you come into contact with, but get to know the real person that you endorse. As a society, online or otherwise, we have to stop just going through the motions and make real efforts and establish real relationships. Your business relationships and social endorsement will last a lot longer and mean more if you put in the effort.
