Facebook Groups- Getting Your Spam On

Facebook Groups- Spammed in and Banned Out

Facebook groups are a great way to build a community and attract like-minded people for your business or group venture. All too often though, as marketers we find ourselves being added to group after group as if we actually wanted to be there. I find myself going through my day and doing what I do on a daily basis, then I get an alert or look over into my side bar and I see a new group that I have been added into.

Here is what seems to happen with a majority of groups that I have been spammed  in to. As soon as it is realized, I become frustrated and expresses it on the wall of that group. Discussion happens and it all to often ends up with either me leaving that group, or I end up being booted out for telling who ever that you do not appreciate being spammed in to their group.

Spamming someone into your group is not a favor to the person that you added. It is an absolute annoyance. It is something that fills up a news feed with useless information in most cases. To span someone into a group actually hurts your credibility and ruins the reputation of the group that you are trying to build.

To properly build a Facebook groups, you have to look at it like you are trying to build a community of friends. You have to have things in common. The key ingredient though is the relationship. Get to know someone and establish a relationship before you ask them to join your group. Do not just add them because you may end up losing more friends than you make.
