Is Your Social Media Magic or Misfit? Some of the social media tools that entrepreneurs and businesses have access to these days are quite magical in nature. Auto posting, group posts, help with SEO and edge rank are just some of the functions that latest of the social media tools has to offer. Do these tools offer the right thing that creates social media magic for you? Or is it the thing that turns you in to the social media misfit?

If you are like many small business owners, more than likely you are making a run at doing your own social media. When you start from the beginning you might think that social media is just a Facebook page. So you get your page set up and you write a few posts because that is what you are supposed to do. You put up some graphics and a nice cover picture that explains what it is that you do along with a website address and maybe a phone number. Your page is up and running and you gain a few followers and then a month down the road you realize how much time that you have actually put in to your social media. Then all of a sudden there is a strange looking post on another Facebook page that has a “@” and a “#” and you think what is this? Then it hits you. “TWITTER” You Yell inside your own brain as you suddenly realize that Facebook is just the beginning of your social media and what really needs to be done.

So off you go and your Twitter account and Twitter page are set up and you discovered LinkedIN along the way. Now that both of those are taken care of you can now run all three of them and be really effective right? Boy, if you thought your Facebook account took up your time multiply that times three and you are still not done. Because if you are like most entrepreneurs and businesses you see others posting about their business on Pinterest and Google Plus. Where does it ind you may ask? Well do not stop there because you may have forgotten some.  The list goes on and on.

Getting Set up with social media is a huge task in itself and getting them to intertwine and work to your advantage may seem easy but for the beginner please proceed with caution.  When it comes to social media, your reputation is at stake. The branding that sits along side that reputation is carried all of the way through your social media and if your brand and message is not broadcast correctly and in the right manner, it could turn your social media form something that is supposed to be magic and it will make you look like the social media misfit.

The are plenty of businesses and entrepreneurs out there doing killer social media campaigns and work that surrounds and impregnates their social media. Most that are successful at social media have some sort of writing skills that come in to play by means of blog articles. Some use video very effectively. Some integrate both of them very well, but is this right for all business owners and entrepreneurs? Some would say YES, but maybe not. It Really depends on what you want your message to be and how you want to relay it.
